About New World Kitchen
New World Kitchen is a pop-up, takeout-only business started by chef Madeline Krantz that creates small batch vegan meal prep and products in Des Moines, IA. It was launched in 2012 under the name New World Café — the first 100% vegan restaurant in Des Moines. The menu is built on original recipes made from whole food ingredients like grains, beans, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

From Restaurant to Meal Prep Company
On December 12th, 2012, chef Madeline Krantz launched New World Café — Des Moines' first all-vegan restaurant, which opened in the East Village. They served customers plant-based burgers, bowls salads, and more through 2015, when the restaurant closed. In 2020, Madeline relaunched her business as a meal prep service called New World Kitchen, which serves many of the same recipes from the original restaurant.

A New Vegan Documentary from Justin
Hi, I’m Justin. For those of you who pick up your food from us on Mondays, you probably know me as the guy who hands your orders to you. I’ve worked with my wife Madeline as the web developer/photographer for New World Kitchen over the last 5+ years — but for most of my working hours, I’m a filmmaker. This year, my two worlds have begun to collide: I’m helping my friend Ryan Rakes make a documentary about vegan strength athletes, and I thought some of you might be interested in the project. We’ve chosen the subject because there is...

We're Back with Three New Menu Items!
When we take a week off, I usually take several days to rest, then a few to work on recipe development, and a few more to rest before getting back to the usual kitchen routine. I’ve come to see how this time is necessary for me as a chef and a person. Playing around in the kitchen to create new recipes is my favorite thing, and I’m so grateful I run a business that allows me that time. And because you all are the coolest, so many of you tell me how much you love that we take these breaks....
