Hello to Our New Customers!

I’ve been quiet over here. It hasn’t been on purpose— we’ve just been busy! (Today I was in the kitchen finishing this beautiful special order 💚)

Despite that, we’ve been getting new customers! So I wanted to say hello 👋

I’m Madeline, chef & owner of New World Kitchen. I previously co-owned New World Café in the East Village from 2012-2015. When I relaunched as NWK in 2020, I wanted to create a more sustainable way to run a food business that allows me to hang onto the love I have for cooking. While this is also an enormous amount of work, and not for the faint of heart, I do still love it after 5+ years.

NWK is fully vegan, mostly gluten-free prepared food in plastic-free packaging, using original recipes & whole food ingredients.

Ordering is open Monday-Thursday at 5 pm, with a new menu each week.

The goal is to make vegan food that’s just plain good food, period. It’s rooted in compassion— I’ve been vegan since 2011, when the options in Des Moines were few and far between.

So I started cooking. Realized I had a knack for recipe development and ran with it. And here I am now.

But I don’t do it alone! My husband Justin is a major force that keeps NWK running. I also have an amazing team who work weekly shifts in the kitchen, plus a couple of delivery drivers who will bring it right to your doorstep.

Some of you come for weekly meal prep, some of you stock up on our staple products, and some of you love visiting our retail partners for grab & go options…. all of you keep us going and make the hard work worthwhile.
